At Kingswood Primary School our vision is to give children a high-quality computing education to equip our pupils with the skills to use computational thinking and creativity to understand and change the world.
Computing has deep links with mathematics, science, and design and technology, allowing us to teach computing in an exciting and engaging cross curricular way as well as teaching discreetly where needed to ensure a thoughtful and meaningful approach to learning.
Our computing curriculum is taught using the three main strands: Computer Science, Information Technology and Digital Literacy. We follow the Rising Stars computing scheme of work and have access to all of the resources to support the delivery of this scheme.
We also utilise other apps and websites to link to our cross-curricular topics throughout the year. In addition, we ensure our pupils know how to use technology safely and are responsible users of the internet preparing them for the digital world.
Our computing curriculum gives children the opportunity to access a wide range of resources and to develop their skills in typing, word processing, coding, animation and much more. The curriculum is fun, engaging and is enjoyed by all learners. We measure the progress made by our children through discussions and observations.
We aim to empower children to feel motivated to extend there learning in a safe environment and apply their knowledge to other areas of the curriculum.
